One month left!
In about a month the second edition of the Playz Day of Defeat: Source LAN is taking place at Playz Hall of Game in Stockholm, Sweden. This time we are looking at a larger tournamnet than last time with 12 teams attending this edition compared to the 4 last time.

The event is taking place on the 6th January during the night in a nightgibb style starting from around 23.00 CET and ending at 9.00 CET the morning after. The final is supposed to be played earlier then that though. Every team will have the same 6 computers during the entire event.

Right now we are looking into the possibility to start with a groupstage where all teams will proceed to a double elimination bracket in some way. Nothing has been decided regarding that yet and won't be until closer to the event. We will however make sure every team gets to play atleast 3-4 games.

I have got plenty of questions regarding the prizes for this event and that's a part we are currently working on. So far we have atleast €650 confirmed for first place, but expect more to be announced regarding that part in the next weeks.

As it was first announced that the tournament would have room for 16 teams you might wonder why it's 12 now. That's simply because we couldn't fit in 16 teams with the current placement of their computers and it would be too difficult to move around computers.

Right now there are only three places left in the tournament as 9 teams have already paid their entrance fee. If your team intends to attend this event you need to act fast before there are no places left! The following 9 teams are confirmed to attend Playz LAN #2:
  • afterlife
  • Edgerunner
  • ince
  • Insignia Cadre
  • copyriot
  • copyLight
  • eXplicit-Gaming
  • warriors of Legend
  • Fresh&TighT
  • If your team is looking into going to this event you need to contact me and make the entrance fee payment as soon as possible to not miss this opportunity. If you are attending this event as a writer for a community website we can offer you a computer for the entire event infront of the stage for 200 SEK (around €20). If you are interested in this you should contact me on IRC for more details.

During this weekend the event website will be updated with all necessary for this event, such as accommodation, things to do before/after the event, travel to Stockholm/Playz etc. If you have any questions feel free to ask me on IRC.

    Playz LAN - DoD: Source

Hello everyone and welcome to the temporary website for the upcoming Playz LAN. A big thank you to Will who made this, I really appreciate it.

The tournament will be played on the 6th January during the night, same as last time. One of the reasons for that is because of the low turnout last time and we feel we are uncertain the Source community is able to handle a larger LAN yet, please prove us wrong.

The registration is now open and the payment part will be added tonight or tomorrow. The fee per team is 1800 SEK (approx. €33 per player). If you make the payment in euros it's €200 + €10. The extra €10 is to cover the bank fees caused by the payment being made in euros. A team is not confirmed as a tournament participant before the payment is made. When you have made it send a printscreen of it to playz@cstern.com

Once the payment is made we will only return the money IF the tournament is cancelled.

The tournament is open for 16 teams and every team will have 6 computers during the entire event. Times for it will be released closer to the event.

As for the prizemoney nothing has been set yet and we are still working on that part. But, the more team that registers the easier it will get to find potential partners for this event.

More information will be added to this site during the next couple of days. If you have any questions feel free to contact me (APaX) on IRC in #Playz.LAN on QuakeNet.

    Location:
    Playz Hall of Game
    Ringvägen 125
    Stockholm, Sweden

Edit: If you want the details on where to send the payment contact APaX on IRC, thanks.
